Hillel Halkin: Adventures in Translation

Hosted By: The National Library of Israel (NLI)

Few people have had the privilege (or ability!) to translate the scope of Jewish literature that Hillel Halkin has…

From Amos Oz to Sholem Aleichem, Yehuda Halevy and countless others, Halkin has written, translated and reported on Jewish life and culture for more than half a century.

Join him for a fascinating conversation on the worth of translators and translation today, on negotiating ever-complex cultural, social, and literary sensibilities, and shouldering the task of witnessing and saving priceless treasures of cultural heritage. He will be in conversation with British-Nigerian-Israeli writer Akin Ajayi, co-founder of the Tel Aviv Review of Books.

This event is at 8 PM in Israel and 1 PM ET.
