First Maccabees, Second Maccabees, and the Letter of Aristeas to Philocrates are three books in the Apocrypha that tell the history of Hanukkah and its world context closest to the events themselves.
We’ll look at these texts as original primary sources and compare them to what is usually taught about the Hanukkah story.
