Genealogist to speak on discoveries about family members in the Holocaust
Hosted By: Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois
The daughter of two Holocaust survivors, Deborah Long recounts in this presentation her shocking 2009 unearthing of family artifacts that compelled her to visit her ancestral villages in Poland, Hungary and northern Germany to understand her parents’ Holocaust history. The narrative of this program serves to inspire researchers who are up against all odds—few names, no family artifacts or photographs, and no living relatives. She will review her methodology, her trip through shtetls and concentration camps, and her surprising and joyful discovery upon returning home.
