From Privilege to Purpose: Edmond de Rothschild and Zion
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Education hosts author James McAuley for a discussion of his new biography of Edmond de Rothschild, the French aristocrat who became a central force behind the first Jewish agricultural settlements in Ottoman Palestine. Drawing on newly uncovered materials, including Rothschild’s own memoir, McAuley traces Rothschild’s personal transformation and examines what his choices reveal about the early Zionist project and Israel’s story today. Presented as part of the partnership with the Jewish Lives series, the session includes a discount code for participants to purchase the book upon its release.
