Dual Identities: Living in Meier’s Shadow with Arthur M. Horwitz
Hosted By: Yiddish Book Center (Amherst, MA)
The Yiddish Book Center presents a conversation with Arthur M. Horwitz about his book “Dual Identities: Living in Meier’s Shadow,” prompted by his discovery of an iconic Holocaust image of a terrified boy tucked inside his mother’s wallet. Horwitz, longtime publisher and executive editor of the Detroit Jewish News, describes the responsibility of living two lives, his own and the one his mother’s little brother Meier never had after being murdered in the Holocaust. The book offers an insightful look at intergenerational trauma and the path to coping, healing, reconciliation, and remembrance.
