Derfner Judaica Museum: The Best Little Museum You Never Knew Existed

Hosted By: Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program ("CSP")

The Community Scholar Program explores the Derfner Judaica Museum, an intimate museum overlooking the Hudson River on the campus of The Hebrew Home at Riverdale in the Bronx. This session surveys its permanent collection of nearly 1,000 works, tracing Jewish life through art, ritual objects, and everyday creativity across time and place. From historic ceremonial pieces to modern interpretations, the collection shows how Judaica functions as a living visual language shaped by tradition, local style, and imagination.
