Contemporary Art: Tracing Texts for and by Jewish Women
Hosted By: Kveller
An Artist Talk with Danielle Alhassid
In this talk, artist Danielle Alhassid will discuss the relationship between stop-motion animation, contemporary art and Yiddish texts for and by immigrant women — materials that have shaped and inspired her recent research-based artistic practice. The conversation will include a preview of her upcoming exhibition in collaboration with the CCNY Special Collections (NY), as well as an introduction to previous projects: “Two Pieces” (Brooklyn Museum, NY), “Go Forth O Daughters” (Amsterdam Museum, Netherlands), and “Shtibl of One’s Own” (Venezia Contemporanea, Italy).
Following her lecture, Danielle will be joined by Lisa Keys, Special Projects Editor at 70 Faces Media, to discuss her presentation and take audience questions.
This interactive event is part of our Jewish Artists Spotlight, a conversation series designed to introduce you to Jewish artists who work in a variety of media in New York, Israel and elsewhere. The project combines live, online events with a series of written profiles that explore the experiences of being a working Jewish artist today. Brought to you by Kveller, with the support of UJA-Federation of New York.
