Hosted By: The Fritz Ascher Society for Persecuted, Ostracized and Banned Art

The Fritz Ascher Society for Persecuted, Ostracized and Banned Art presents a talk by Jennifer McComas, curator of “Remembrance and Renewal: American Artists and the Holocaust, 1940–1970,” on how mid-20th-century American artists confronted the Holocaust in their work. She will discuss how artists used symbolism, abstraction, and references to Jewish texts to depict trauma and remembrance. This program is part of the online series “Flight or Fight: Stories of Artists Under Repression.”
