Challah Workshop

Hosted By: Congregation Kol Ami

Have you been baking your way through quarantine? So has Rabbi Chaiken, with a focus on Challah! Use up some of your flour in advance of Passover, and log on with Congregation Kol Ami Thursday, March 11 to spend some time in the kitchen with Rabbi Chaiken.

Thursday March 11, 1:00 PM PT – Make Your Dough! Start your dough on Zoom together. You can use the recipe Rabbi Chaiken has been curating throughout the pandemic, or any other recipe you like! You will have a chance to start your dough together, and have a chance to share advice and stories about different recipes.

Thursday March 11, 4:30 PM PT – Braid your challah! After your dough has had about 2.5 hours to rise, log back on to shape and braid, to learn the blessing for “taking” challah, and share in learning about removing our chametz as we prepare for Passover!

Join for either or both of these hours. You can find the recipe that Rabbi Chaiken has been developing through trial and error at kol-ami.org/challah, or make any recipe of your choosing. Just note that since many recipes require ~2.5 hours for a first rise, we have timed our afternoon in the kitchen this way, but if using a different recipe, please plan accordingly!
