Bagels Over Berlin: Voices Of American Jewish Airmen
Hosted By: The Museum of Jewish Heritage-- A Living Memorial to the Holocaust
For young Jewish men in the American military, World War II had particularly high stakes. They served both as Americans and as Jews in this greatest of human conflicts, determined to defeat Nazi Germany at all costs.
Join the Museum for a Veterans Day screening of Bagels Over Berlin, a documentary from filmmaker Alan Feinberg which explores the experiences of these young men and highlights their heroism. The film focuses on the U.S. Army Air Corps, which suffered the highest mortality rate among branches of the U.S. armed forces but which nonetheless attracted Jewish volunteers in disproportionately large numbers.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Feinberg and Gerald Gersten, who flew 35 bombing missions over Germany between 1943 and 1945.
