Amidah Part II: The Patriarchs and Matriarchs

Hosted By: Stephen Wise Free Synagogue

In the first blessing of the Amidah, we remind God of our ancestors — our forefathers and foremothers. How are we blessed by being their descendants? And why is this connection so important to Judaism? Join Rabbi Samantha Natov and Student Cantor Joe Flaxman on Zoom for a deep dive into the first blessing of the Amidah, the “Avot v’Imahot.” Investigate its meaning and history, where it falls in the morning service and how different musical settings affect the way we understand it. A great intro to Shabbat liturgy and enriching for more experienced worshippers!

This is part of our ongoing program “A Deep Dive Into the Shabbat Morning Service.” No previous experience necessary.
