A Tour of Rashi and His World

Hosted By: London School of Jewish Studies (LSJS)

Although he died more than 900 years ago, the life and work of Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, known as Rashi, still fascinates us. How could one man have written a coomentary on the entire Bible and Talmud?

In this new tour we will visit his hometown of Troyes in the northern Champagne region of France and the ‘Rashi Synagogue’ in Worms, Germany, where he studied. We will loook at some of the many diagrams drawn in his own hand, his translations of key Hebrew words into Old French, the Italian printer’s ‘Rashi Script’, and legal responsa that shine a light on his life.

How many of the stories written about him are true and what is his lasting legacy? Find out on this unique and original tour from a season LSJS tour guide.

This event will be held at 1 PM EST and 6 PM in the UK.
