A quarter of a century ago, we faced unprecedented shock and grief. Today, as we look back, we must also examine the distinct realities facing the global Jewish community now.
To help us make sense of this moment, we are honored to welcome Thomas Friedman, three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and foreign affairs columnist for The New York Times.
Friedman will be in conversation with Hilary Krieger, executive editor of JTA and the New York Jewish Week. Together they will explore how security, media narratives, and domestic challenges have shifted since 2001, how our community can address today’s pressing issues while honoring the memory of 9/11, and what lies ahead.
About our speaker: Thomas L. Friedman is a three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author who covers global politics, economics, and environmental issues for The New York Times. For his extensive coverage of foreign affairs and the Middle East, he received Pulitzers in 1983, 1988, and 2002, alongside an honorary Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2004. He is also a celebrated author of several bestselling books on globalization and technology, including the National Book Award winner “From Beirut to Jerusalem” and the internationally acclaimed “The World Is Flat.”
