A Place in the Tradition: Queerness in Jewish Life
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning presents a three-part exploration with Rabbi Jamie Weisbach of queer Jewish life through Torah, rabbinic texts, halakhah, and Jewish ethics. Sessions examine where queer stories and experiences already live within traditional Jewish texts, how to approach Leviticus 18:22 and the challenge of halakhah when Jewish law and lived reality appear at odds, and what Jewish interpersonal ethics ask of us in our relationships with queer family, friends, and community members. The course invites participants to encounter challenging texts honestly and consider how Torah can inform the communities we build together.
