A Break in the Bounty: A Year to Deepen Roots
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

This Jewish year, 5783, is the Sabbatical year. In this very current lesson, we will explore together this concept called Shemittah. Just as Jews are instructed to rest one day every seven days, the land is to rest one year every seven years. What is the purpose of this rest? Other than the possible agricultural benefits, are there any human benefits associated with the observance of this mitzvah? Join us as we dig into the texts that tell the story of this cyclical phenomenon.
