Joseph's death.

  • Every week, Julie Seltzer, artist and Torah scribe, bakes a challah depicting an aspect of the week's Torah portion.

So Joseph died at a hundred and ten years old. And they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt. (Genesis 50:26)

    jacob's death for vayehi

This is Joseph embalmed--like an Egyptian, as this was where he lived and died. His bones are later brought out from Egypt, as promised, when the Hebrews are set free from slavery.
