Shaking Hands

Ari Alexander is guest blogging (via Blackberry) from the World Conference on Dialogue in Madrid, organized by the Muslim World League under the patronage of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

We all had the chance to shake the hand of the King of Saudi Arabia. I said to him ‘Your Excellency, I am here representing the young people who believe in your vision. Thank you for leading us.’

He nodded his head slowly and repeatedly with deep eyes and said ‘inshallah, inshallah’.

B’ezrat hashem.

You don’t know quite how to feel when you’ve experienced a moment in your life that you know you will never forget.

I was so moved that I forgot that the spanish king was five feet further down. He was noticeably perturbed when I shook his hand as an afterthought. Oops.
