Blessing over Spices
Birkhot hanehenin: Blessings
recited prior to eating, drinking, or smelling.
Before smelling spices, including the spices used during havdalah
(the ritual ending Shabbat, the Sabbath), recite the following blessing:
Barukh ata adonai
Blessed are You, Lord
Eloheinu melekh
ha'olam
Our God, Ruler of the
universe
Borei minei
v'samim
Who creates different
kinds of fragrances.
