General Blessing over Food
Birkhot hanehenin: Blessings
recited prior to eating, drinking, or smelling.
Before eating food or drink that falls into no other
distinct category, including meat, poultry, eggs, fish, milk, and other dairy
products, recite the following blessing:
Barukh ata adonai
Blessed are You, Lord
Eloheinu melekh
ha'olam
Our God, Ruler of the
universe
Shehakol nihya
bidvaro.
At whose word all
came to be.
