Blessing over Bread
Birkhot hanehenin: Blessings
recited prior to eating, drinking, or smelling.
Before eating bread or a meal that includes bread (in
which case no further blessings are needed for the other foods at the meal),
recite the following blessing:
Barukh ata adonai
Blessed are You, Lord
Eloheinu melekh
ha'olam
Our God, Ruler of the
universe
Hamotzi lehem min
ha'aretz.
Who brings forth
bread from the earth.
