Slavery Today

A look at modern day slavery.

During the holiday of Passover, we celebrate the freedom of the Jewish people from the bonds of slavery in Egypt. We commemorate their journey and retell the account of their trials and travails.

But today, there are still more than 27 million slaves around the world. Modern slavery has caused men, women, and children to work as agricultural laborers, sweatshop workers, prostitutes, and domestic workers. In America alone, there are about 50,000 slaves trafficked in or out of the country every year.

We tell the stories of those currently enslaved, speaking for them, with hopes that one day we can celebrate Passover with peace of mind, knowing that all people are free. Below are numerous organizations working to free the millions of slaves around the world.
