yeshivah

Jewish rabbinical academy devoted to the study of the Talmud and other rabbinic sources. The institution of the yeshivah is a continuation of the academies in Babylonia and Palestine during the talmudic and gaonic periods. Many modern yeshivot teach a programme of secular studies to complement traditional talmudic learning.
